This is a small price to pay for a large life to protect and help.

The Trinity Angel Non-Profit Organization is proud to present the first ever fundraiser for the Trinity Place LGBT Youth Homeless Shelter.

Trinity Place Shelter is a non-sectarian, 10-bed transitional shelter that is open all year to provide LGBTQ youth with a safe place to sleep, eat, store belongings, and have access to transportation. The shelter provides a unique, family-like environment where the youth receive the respect, individualized care, and basic services so often denied them. There are as many as 10,000 LGBTQ youth currently living homeless in NYC and only 250 beds or fewer that are specifically available for this population. These youth often experience abuse in other shelters. Our goal is to expand our program to provide homeless LGBTQ youth with the basic services and skills necessary to make independent living a reality, and to make a positive difference for as many as possible in the midst of this crisis.

Most of us remember what it was like to fear the rejection of friends and family once we finally came out of the shadows and admitted that we were gay. Hopefully, most of us were embraced for simply being who we were. Unfortunately though, there are others who weren’t so lucky. Instead of being accepted by their loved ones, they were ostracized, shunned, and even turned out by the people whose support they needed the most during this difficult time. And it could have easily have been one of us.

As members of the LGBT community, we have a responsibility to support our fellow brothers and sisters, especially the young, who in most cases have nowhere else to turn.

Please join us December 2nd from 7 - 11 pm at Aspen Lounge for an unforgettable event.

Hosted by: Oscar Apaydinli, Matt Tratner, Josh Wood, Mark Nelson, Russ Williamson, Memo Valverde, Kevin Joyce, Joseph Miceli Magnone, Jacob Fanning, Eddie Garou, Tony Fornabaio, Mike Ruiz, Douglas Hill, Kevin Lotz & Danielle Pepin, among others!

For a $25 Donation, you receive:

• A black Trinity Angel NYC Awareness Bracelet (which, in combination with a stamp, gets you free booze all night!)

• FREE Vodka, Tequila & Rum Bar sponsored by V2 (From 7-11)

• Tons of raffle prizes, including giveaways from: Jet Blue, John Bartlett, V2 Vodka, etc.

• Music by HX Magazine’s DJ of the Year, DJ Xavier

To make your $25 donation now, please go to: http://www.trinityangelnyc.com

There will be VERY LIMITED amounts of tickets at the door, and only if available, so please take a moment and go to the website and make your donation online. I've been busy! SO elated that we FINALLY have another Democrat in office, and one that is motivated enough to make a change, and clean up past messes!

I was on the most amazing date when the results were announced, and that made it that much more memorable! We witnessed history on Tuesday, and it is an absolutely amazing feeling to see people turning out in such amazing numbers at the polls, and taking initiative to vote and make a difference!

I'm actually not embarrassed anymore to be an American. If we can unite long enough to get something like this accomplished, why can't we do more and more! We could certainly make so much more happen as a people if we stopped for one moment, and realized that we aren't alone, and that we are in it together.

Start spreading the kindness. Smile. Open doors. Watch where you are going, and excuse yourself rather than push. Say please and thank you. These are all common courtesies that are normal in most of the world, and certainly very lost in New York! Pay attention, spread the love, be the change you want to see in the world!

xx

ELECTION DAY!

VOTE!!!! The decor reminds me of something you might have seen in Shanghai in the 30's, or a villainous Victorian laboratory, with tons of apothecary bottles gracing the back of the bar, as well as assorted intriguing paraphernalia.

3 mixologists, in the truest sense of the word are turning out some of the finest cocktails that I have ever tasted! The techniques they were using were absolutely fascinating, and we were lucky it wasn't super crowded so we were able to watch each one being made. Glasses set aflame, caramelized rims with habanero infusions, the list goes on and on. Jack, who mans what appeared to be most of the dark spirits, even convinced me to try a Mint Julep, his way. I am no fan of dark spirits, but as apprehensive as I was, he didn't fail to deliver! I actually wanted to have another because it was so delicious, but with so many options to experience, how could I not try something new.

Before we tried a new round, we ducked out for a minute to Joe's Shanghai on Pell Street for the most amazing soup dumplings I had ever tasted in my life! Fried dumplings were delicious as well! We became the mayors of our communal table, as Nicholas introduced himself, and us, to each new diner that sat down! Truly a sight! Definitely the best Chinese in New York, in my opinion!

Now back to Apotheke! After I had a little snack (a little? lol!) my palate was recharged, and ready for my next cocktail. I chose James Bond Melon Ball. I have no clue what all was in it, but I did taste some elderflower, cantaloupe, and watermelon. It was a vodka base, but I know it was something more special than just those notes. I'm now officially hooked, and will be back again and again!

I left Apotheke, and headed to meet a friend who apparently fell asleep and was no fun, so I went to meet DJ Lina and Gentleman's League designer/founder, Adam Razak at Kingswood. Cocktail after cocktail, we entertained a rotating roster of guests at our table, as the restaurant died down, the bar scene picked up, and we eventually shut it down with the staff! We all headed to my west side favorite, Employee's Only, to see the best abs in town, Igor, and the effervescent Rachel, who were overjoyed to see us! Well, that lasted for 1 drink, and we were pressured by friends of friends to meet up at the Box. Rather than have 1 more Amalia at EO, we hopped in cabs, and down we went, only to be met at the door by our friend who announced that it was closing and we were too late! Good times=no concept of time apparently!

So, another night in NYC, an amazing time, so chill, so many new places to try, so many old faves needing our attention, and so many people to see. Fall is upon us, and the event season is picking up, so I imagine it will always be hard to do it all, but somehow, the Boulevardier can always make it work!

Fall has arrived...

It's that time of year when the leaves start to fall, people stop hitting the beaches, and start hitting the apple orchards. Off with the Havaianas, and on with the shearlings. People start nesting, hunkering down for the winter. Well, it isn't completely lie that in New York City. We have a couple more months before the nesting process. Holiday season approaches, and we are in the midst of a horrible economic crunch, and even with this bull shit bail out, it's not going to be pretty for many people in the city when it comes to gifting. Stay tuned for The Boulevardier Gift Guide, for those in need of some economical ways to show those they love that luxury can be had at any price!

But before we even get to the gift guide, let's talk about Halloween! SO many ideas run through my head. Perhaps something post-apocalyptic, because that's basically what my bank account feels like these days! Below are some costumes from past Halloweens....

"freeze muthuhfuckuh, you have the right to remain sexy..."
Fashion Police Halloween 2005

Roze and I at Satyricon, Halloween 2007
It was based on the Fellini film..Roman themed, obvi!

Women in Western Art

While researching images of famous portraits for an upcoming project, I stumbled across this video. It's one of the most beautiful days that we have had in New York in a long time! Temperature is perfect, the sun is out, the humidity is low, it's not overly polluted with noise. Toulouse's remains came home today.

He passed April 18, 2008, from kidney failure. It was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life, putting him to rest, but his quality of life was completely diminished, and he was suffering horribly. He went silently, not even knowing who I was.

Oh how I miss my little monkey. He was my shadow for 12 years, and not a day goes by that I don't think of him. I feel like sometimes I see him around the house, out of the corner of my eye, like he never left, but it is just my mind playing tricks on me. He was with me through 3 cities, numerous loves, numerous heartbreaks, much loss, much gain, and always was there, loving unconditionally, no matter how annoying he could be sometimes. It takes a lot to live in my crazy world, and he never once tried to escape! I kid. He did try. But unsuccessfully. He had no thumbs, so he couldn't open the door.

Where ever he is, whatever he is doing, I hope that he is happy and healthy, playing, eating all his favorite foods, and most of all, I hope he knows how much he was loved, and that he is thought of often. (of course this was followed by some writing, etc....) It's SOOO true. I'm in the market for 2 of those, and it seems as though it has been that way since I lived here. Of course, what I'm in the market for (or on the market for) isn't always the same 2. I'm not necessarily looking for a boyfriend, and I date like mad, but I think I'm ready to settle down some and that certainly would be a welcome asset to that plan. I'm not looking for an apartment, so that leaves job. Hmm. Ideas are welcome, comments are encouraged!

Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont

I just watched a beautiful movie called Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont, starring Dame Joan Plowright, and super sexy Rupert Friend. It's about an elderly woman who goes to live in a hotel called Claremont that is for retired and elderly folk. She is lonely and the other folks in the hotel think that the grandson she speaks of is mythical. One day, out and about, she falls and young, aspiring writer (with most mesmerizing eyes) named Ludo comes to her rescue. They develop a rapport that leads them to a sweet friendship. He, never knowing his grandmother, and her having a grandson that doesn't call as often as he should.

As she announces to the other elderly hotel guests that she has a young guest coming for dinner, they automatically assume that she is referring to her grandson. She doesn't deny it, and he becomes a regular guest of Mrs. Palfrey at the hotel. They share stories, he writes a story about the experience. She dies. Her family was only there after her death. Ludo was the last to see her, the last to share in her life, and the last to learn the important lessons that her life lead her to.

The reason I am writing about what could be a sad story is because I see the beauty in it. It's a touching account of an elderly woman who was lucky enough to spend her last days with someone that was open enough to listen to what she has to say, and to absorb the lessons she has to teach. They were companions. He was lonely, she was as well, and together, the days passed with light instead of darkness.

I can't help but wonder what my Nana's last days were like. I find myself thinking about her often and I can't help but feel guilty about not being there as often as I should have, and not calling as often as I could. She had so much knowledge to share, and lived such an interesting life. She gave me my entrepreneurial spirit, and kept me inspired with the story of her struggle growing up Cherokee. I miss her terribly, she was a beautiful woman. I know she forgives me for being away so much, but more importantly I wish I hadn't missed out on what else she had to share! Call your grandmother!!!!!

Tina Fey, is thatchoo girl?

She's good with a teleprompter. They are super high waisted, super slimming, and really sexy! It was hosted my Holly Dunlap of Hollywould in the penthouse suite of the Rivington Hotel. The booze was sponsored by St. Germain, and being one of my favorite spirits, I had an amazing time!

The beauty of ADWA is they are all custom made, taking 3-4 weeks to arrive to the clients door. No more trying on 20 pairs of pants to find the questionably perfect jean, and still having to have them tailored. These bitches fit like a glove! I was amazed at how long legged they made the girls walking around the party! Being 6'3", I appreciate a tall gal, and the party was laden with them! Thank you St. Germain for a delightful evening of cocktails! I couldn't get enough of the St. Germain cooler! It was vodka, St. Germain, something orange/pink and fruity, and deeeerishious! Next please.

Random Rant: Baby strollers

Ugh! You know the type. The woman who is angrily navigating her pram through the streets of New York. You are walking in opposite directions, and the street is narrowing. Rather than wait to see who's coming first, she automatically assumes she has the right of way, and she speeds up, tackling your toes as she does it. She doesn't bother to share the sidewalk, she just assumes she owns it. I loathe this type of woman. Just because you have a baby doesn't mean you own anything more than more responsibility, sugar...

Next time you see a baby carriage barreling at you, stay your course. It's not being discourteous, because after years and years of yielding, it's my turn to own the sidewalk. A simple thank you would suffice, but no...nothing. Not my fault you have stretch marks, new mama. Not my problem you got no sleep because your little mouth breather is teething.

I'm not completely insensitive to babies, I just hate the attitude that new mothers get when they are out and about. Not everyone wants to hear your baby scream and cry, and I certainly don't want you on a plane with me. The sidewalk is somewhere that we should all share, including you and your baby carriage.

MissUnderstood!

So I think I love Pamela Anderson Lee. She is stunning, and on her new show "Pam: Girl on the Loose", she shows a surprisingly different side of herself! I'm absolutely IN LOVE with the way she is portrayed! The camera work is so refreshing in the way it is presented, making it feel more like an old home movie.

It's basically the untold side (as they choose to show us, I imagine) of her life. Her children are never shown, Tommy Lee pops in occasionally, we meet her Canadian parents, see her build her dream home (in essence a cleansing and starting over after scandals, divorce, etc.). She's back to basics, after a fashion....I mean, if living in the Bu is basic, I need to live in the Colony!

I love this photo of Pam, all lady like, in fashionable garb that leaves something to our imagination, yet still possessing amazing sex appeal. Brigitte Bardot would have to agree they bear a striking resemblance!

"Every act of rebellion expresses a nostalgia for innocence and an appeal to the essence of being. " Albert Camus

It makes me think. Is it actually the case that each time we rebel, we are really longing for or reflecting on a time of innocence? If so, why do we rebel? Wouldn't we be innocent if we didn't? I dunno where I'm going with this, but I just ordered a couple books by Albert Camus to figure it out! I don't know why I'm rambling about her show, I just think she's making a mark that sets her side of things straight and I wish we all had the opportunity to display what the real story is, which is usually nothing like people and press make it out to be.

DJ's Are Not Rockstars is BACK at BLACK! mr. DJ Gant Johnson and I had a little reunion of sorts, after having done Eastern Bloc's former Tricky Tuesday party together with Lina. TOO MUCH FUN! One of the CD decks was busted, so there was Gant spinning one CD at a time, no mixes, and PISSED! I called my girl Joy Helsinga over at the Cabana at Maritime who so graciously borrowed a deck from her bar to share with us for this party!

(THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU Joy, the music woulda been questionable otherwise! And we would NEVUH let that happen to Gant!)

It was the birthday eve of one Danimal Volpa, who rang my phone forevuh until he showed up! Gordon Adams (Lily Pond East Hampton) was on hand for dry humor, the occasional dick pop, and security! Mayjah Lindsey Gockenbach from Spaweek.org was also there for a much missed reunion! I hadn't seen her in AGES! Good times! Mr. Black and Jessica Black made a brief appearance, as did MAC Jerry, neighbor Eric, and an assortment of supporting cast and crew were on hand to make it an amazing night full of debauchery, stares, points, jeers, naughty activities with randoms, and a whole lotta laughs!

We left there, popped over to G Lounge for Joey Israel, Joey Murray, and Matty Maggiacomo's Kute party to meet DJ Mike Lingle for a little "cheer up the straighty at the fag bar!) It was a fun party, but coulda been a bad move, because at this point, Gordon had us shooting chilled vodka, back to back to back, and Lindsey was looking all Mariah Carey and dancing her little ass off to her own little beat with randoms! Always fun to watch that show go down!

Finally, we end up at my place around 3am to finish a bottle of Belvedere and catch up in quiet and AC! Xander was MC, calling out raffles as they gave away amazing pieces from their super cool art! Nacho Libre masked wrestler looking piggy banks, a black glass bread knife, huge black ceramic cat head, etc. Really interesting things! One thing that was creepy was a baby's foot shot glass...can't imagine drinking out of that! Cator Sparks provided background noise as Xander called names! Roze was also near by for comic relief, and she chose the white bread knife as her raffle prize! Bitch! I wanted that!

We left for the Beatrice Inn. Andy Salzer of Yoko Devereaux was with us as well. A drink turned into 3 and Cator began the Charleston, mixed with some 80's gay arms, and made me laugh so hard that my face hurt! SO great! The crowd got better, Joy came over from Cabanas, and we continued the imbibe. Ended up at the front table, and some surprise guests joined our crew. Kirsten Dunst and Justin Long were somewhat entertaining. Actually, Justin is super nice. Kirsten was tipsy, but congenial and funny. And we judge not, Kirsten, we were more than tipsy ourselves!

We bailed on Beatrice, and headed down a little further to one of our fave joints, Employees Only! Igor and I did a little dance, Dagny plied us with cocktails, and Flower was so sweet to make sure they never ended! Finally, as the 3am mark neared, it was time to call it a night! Ah Mondays!

August 7, 2008: Baskit Underwear Show at HK Lounge

The week was nearly done, and we had one last event to attend. We went to HK Lounge in Hells Kitchen for BASKIT Underwear's show and party. It was a strange week full of super hot guys, making us all look fat, and totally out of nowhere, but alas, it was fun! The place was packed, courtesy of Len Evans at Project Publicity. There was a runway show, super hot beats, and more than enough cocktails to keep you entertained. We swilled Belvedere on the rocks, a standard on my palate. The sponsored cocktail was heinous. The boys to the right looked after my cocktail while I was outside smoking! I was hoping either would be in my gift bag when I left! No such luck! Eh, next time!

August 6, 2008: Boulevardier Photoshoot for Glitterati Magazine

We were working on a shoot for Issue 4 of Glitterati Magazine for The Boulevardier. David Tibolla was beating our faces, Bradley Irion was tearing up the weaves, and we were ready to go for our close up with Arnaldo, our fab photog! Muzzy and I (wearing Missoni, DIor, and a fab purple Rod Keenan hat) went to check it out, and the debauchery ensued! Amy Sacco (who looks AMAZING, btw!), Adam Patrizia-Departures, Mark Silver-Factory PR, Nicole Fiscella-Gossip Girls, The Countess LuAnn-Real Housewives of NYC, Suede-Project Runway, and Jason Scarlotti-2(x)ist were a couple of people on hand that I was playing with. LuAnn, who, as it happens, works with my friend Dominick. Small world.
