MissUnderstood!

So I think I love Pamela Anderson Lee. She is stunning, and on her new show "Pam: Girl on the Loose", she shows a surprisingly different side of herself! I'm absolutely IN LOVE with the way she is portrayed! The camera work is so refreshing in the way it is presented, making it feel more like an old home movie.

It's basically the untold side (as they choose to show us, I imagine) of her life. Her children are never shown, Tommy Lee pops in occasionally, we meet her Canadian parents, see her build her dream home (in essence a cleansing and starting over after scandals, divorce, etc.). She's back to basics, after a fashion....I mean, if living in the Bu is basic, I need to live in the Colony!

I love this photo of Pam, all lady like, in fashionable garb that leaves something to our imagination, yet still possessing amazing sex appeal. Brigitte Bardot would have to agree they bear a striking resemblance!

"Every act of rebellion expresses a nostalgia for innocence and an appeal to the essence of being. " Albert Camus

It makes me think. Is it actually the case that each time we rebel, we are really longing for or reflecting on a time of innocence? If so, why do we rebel? Wouldn't we be innocent if we didn't? I dunno where I'm going with this, but I just ordered a couple books by Albert Camus to figure it out! I don't know why I'm rambling about her show, I just think she's making a mark that sets her side of things straight and I wish we all had the opportunity to display what the real story is, which is usually nothing like people and press make it out to be.

DJ's Are Not Rockstars is BACK at BLACK! mr. Black that is!

Remember Tuesdays at the original mr. Black? It was hosted by Mr. Patrick Duffy and Nicky B....SO much fun! Those days were so much fun! It was the first time I had been to Black, so it holds a special place!

I have the pleasure of announcing and hosting the re-launch of DJ's Are Not Rockstars on Labor Day Sunday with the fabulous Sophia Lamar!

You better bring it on Sunday August 31st! The music line up is amazing, some familiar, some new. The feel is the same, the space is great, the cocktails will be flowing, courtesy of me! Mention my name (Russ) at the door and you'll be comped entry!

Looking forward to seeing to all there!

Fridays at Star Lounge under the Chelsea Hotel

DJ Lina and I reunite on Friday August 29th for some long over due debauchery! The music will be super sick and the hijinks will be just that!

Get ready to be turned out!

Sunday August 25, 2008: The Garden of Ono and the rest of the evening!

Sunday I hosted the Garden at ONO, Josh Wood's hot bevy-of-boys party! DJ Gant Johnson and I had a little reunion of sorts, after having done Eastern Bloc's former Tricky Tuesday party together with Lina. TOO MUCH FUN! One of the CD decks was busted, so there was Gant spinning one CD at a time, no mixes, and PISSED! I called my girl Joy Helsinga over at the Cabana at Maritime who so graciously borrowed a deck from her bar to share with us for this party!

(THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU Joy, the music woulda been questionable otherwise! And we would NEVUH let that happen to Gant!)

It was the birthday eve of one Danimal Volpa, who rang my phone forevuh until he showed up! Gordon Adams (Lily Pond East Hampton) was on hand for dry humor, the occasional dick pop, and security! Mayjah Lindsey Gockenbach from Spaweek.org was also there for a much missed reunion! I hadn't seen her in AGES! Good times! Mr. Black and Jessica Black made a brief appearance, as did MAC Jerry, neighbor Eric, and an assortment of supporting cast and crew were on hand to make it an amazing night full of debauchery, stares, points, jeers, naughty activities with randoms, and a whole lotta laughs!

We left there, popped over to G Lounge for Joey Israel, Joey Murray, and Matty Maggiacomo's Kute party to meet DJ Mike Lingle for a little "cheer up the straighty at the fag bar!) It was a fun party, but coulda been a bad move, because at this point, Gordon had us shooting chilled vodka, back to back to back, and Lindsey was looking all Mariah Carey and dancing her little ass off to her own little beat with randoms! Always fun to watch that show go down!

Finally, we end up at my place around 3am to finish a bottle of Belvedere and catch up in quiet and AC! It was one of those nights that makes you realize how much you love this city!

Wednesday August 21, 2008: Quote of the Week

I don't expect this to be a recurring category, but this one is so worth it:

"Naked naked work work time"

Provenance: Cosmic Cantina, East Village
Usage: "Naked naked work work time?"
Response: "I'm a white lady, I don't do that on the first date!"

No clue what it really means because it wasn't what I thought it meant, but it nearly made me spit my margarita across the room!

Great night Mr. Delaney! Again soon I hope!

Sundays in The Garden at ONO

I'm hosting Josh Wood's Sundays in the Garden of ONO at the Hotel Gansevoort August 24th. DJ Gant Johnson will be spinning. We haven't worked together since Lina and I hosted Tricky Tuesday's at Eastern Bloc so I'm super excited! Hope to see you there!

August 18, 2008: DFC Party

Liron and I went to Cabanas for the DFC boys! Xander was MC, calling out raffles as they gave away amazing pieces from their super cool art! Nacho Libre masked wrestler looking piggy banks, a black glass bread knife, huge black ceramic cat head, etc. Really interesting things! One thing that was creepy was a baby's foot shot glass...can't imagine drinking out of that! Cator Sparks provided background noise as Xander called names! Roze was also near by for comic relief, and she chose the white bread knife as her raffle prize! Bitch! I wanted that!

We left for the Beatrice Inn. Andy Salzer of Yoko Devereaux was with us as well. A drink turned into 3 and Cator began the Charleston, mixed with some 80's gay arms, and made me laugh so hard that my face hurt! SO great! The crowd got better, Joy came over from Cabanas, and we continued the imbibe. Ended up at the front table, and some surprise guests joined our crew. Kirsten Dunst and Justin Long were somewhat entertaining. Actually, Justin is super nice. Kirsten was tipsy, but congenial and funny. And we judge not, Kirsten, we were more than tipsy ourselves!

We bailed on Beatrice, and headed down a little further to one of our fave joints, Employees Only! Igor and I did a little dance, Dagny plied us with cocktails, and Flower was so sweet to make sure they never ended! Finally, as the 3am mark neared, it was time to call it a night! Ah Mondays!

August 7, 2008: Baskit Underwear Show at HK Lounge

The week was nearly done, and we had one last event to attend. We went to HK Lounge in Hells Kitchen for BASKIT Underwear's show and party. It was a strange week full of super hot guys, making us all look fat, and totally out of nowhere, but alas, it was fun! The place was packed, courtesy of Len Evans at Project Publicity. There was a runway show, super hot beats, and more than enough cocktails to keep you entertained. We swilled Belvedere on the rocks, a standard on my palate. The sponsored cocktail was heinous. The boys to the right looked after my cocktail while I was outside smoking! I was hoping either would be in my gift bag when I left! No such luck! Eh, next time!

August 6, 2008: Boulevardier Photoshoot for Glitterati Magazine

We were working on a shoot for Issue 4 of Glitterati Magazine for The Boulevardier. Off we went, with 5 garment bags of clothes (courtesy of Rodney E. Hall) , and numerous shopping bags, which btw, in the heat, ain't that fun! We headed to MAO PR to dress, hair, make up, etc. So fun! David Tibolla was beating our faces, Bradley Irion was tearing up the weaves, and we were ready to go for our close up with Arnaldo, our fab photog! Here are a couple images:

August 5, 2008: National Underwear Day

Freshpair.com founded and hosts National Underwear Day, a huge event to celebrate underwear! And you know we love some hot guys (and ladies I suppose) in their underwear! Lydia Hearst was the celeb host, and she was a vision. Muzzy and I (wearing Missoni, DIor, and a fab purple Rod Keenan hat) went to check it out, and the debauchery ensued! Pictured below with the handsome president of Freshpair.com, Michael Kleinmann, the glamorous Lydia Hearst, a very hot and tattooed Tyson Beckford, and fab designer Marc Bouwer.

We left the super crowded event and headed to a local haunt where a friend works, Ritz, in Hells Kitchen. An hour or so later, we headed to Bungalow 8 for the after party for National Underwear Day. It was a zoo, until the queens all headed to Beige. Amy Sacco (who looks AMAZING, btw!), Adam Patrizia-Departures, Mark Silver-Factory PR, Nicole Fiscella-Gossip Girls, The Countess LuAnn-Real Housewives of NYC, Suede-Project Runway, and Jason Scarlotti-2(x)ist were a couple of people on hand that I was playing with. LuAnn, who, as it happens, works with my friend Dominick. Small world. It was a festive, albeit hardcore drunken, evening!

July 31, 2008: Betsey Johnson's 30th Anniversary Party!

Betsey Johnson is an legend in the NYC fashion scene. Her antics on the runway are known worldwide, and the gal can turn a mean cartwheel! She is animated, youthful, and girly rock and roll! She and CEO/Partner Chantal Bacon celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the Betsey Johnson label. So fun! There were cupcakes and petit fours on tiered trays, all pink of course, and pink cocktails, courtesy of Svedka.

Seen: IMG's Fern Mallis, Patrick McDonald, photogs Saria and Elias, Patrick McMullan, artist Jordan Carlyle, model Christopher Fawcett, stylists Marc Sifuentes and Rene Garza, and a bunch of randoms that I don't remember or really care to note!

Thanks for the watch and fragrance, Betsey! My niece will love it! We left there, popped by regular Thursday night haunt to see DJ Lina at Gorgeous/G Lounge. There we drank our faces off and decided it was time for a disco change. We headed to Norwood for a nightcap and then headed home. No photos from Norwood, thank god!

Sistaaah...You been on my mind..Oh, sistaah, we're 2 of a kind....

We always manage to be perfectly coordinated! Hmm. Coincidence? Usually!

DJ Lina and I at Rubin Singer's 30th Birthday Party

A sign from above...

Is the name on the sign a sign of what we should be doing, or the name of the bar? Ironic, isn't it? Why would you name a bar DTOX?

July 30, 2008: Employees Only (again!)

After SEVERAL (maybe too many!) cocktails, and a couple hours later, (It was 2 for 1 at Barracude, so what the hell!), we stumbled to Employees Only in the West Village. One of our fave spots, they have one of the best examples of steak tartare in the city, an exquisite cocktail list, and the staff is so amazing! It was PACKED, we were hammered, the music was great, and we plopped our tipsy asses down for an Amalia (vodka, elderflower liqueur, blackberry puree, and fresh mint). Rachel happened to be working that night!! Lucky us! We absolutely adore her!

Danny and Rachel

Barely able to stand up, we had to call this night a wrap!

July 30, 2008: Debauchery ensues at Barracuda!

We couldn't take it! We needed a really stiff...cocktail! We headed over to G Lounge to see hot Patrick, the beautiful bartender, and the rest of the crew there. Jerry Beersdorf and Stephen Keefe from MAC Cosmetics were on hand for cigarettes and general giggles and feel good times! We left there, did a quick disco change (it was HUMID AS HELL out, and we sweat straight through our couture ensemble!), and headed to...ooooooh Barracuda! James Gammage from Garren, and Steven Bonamasso, Bergdorf Goodman's men's window stylist, met up with us there. Yum!

July 30, 2008: Gen Art Shop New York event

What a zoo! Great prices on loads of designer goods, not very much for men, but good concept, and great for the ladies! There was a birth control lounge, hair touch ups, booze, etc. A sight to behold, all the people, all the vendors, and even more people! Insomniac Cookies was on hand , which was a nice surprise since they don't deliver to my apartment! SO many people! I get clostro, so I had to bail early, and hit it to the nearest bar!

Painting the town....again!

Mischief! All we do is get in trouble. Not really trouble, but evening debacles. We throw in a little networking, support our friends at events, and we drink a whole lot! But then again, who the hell doesn't? And if you say, "Not me!", you lying! That said, here are some examples of the trouble we cause, the scenes we cause, and the people we see while out and about!

Comments on posts are welcome and encouraged! Good, bad, snide, glowing, whatever!
